I think that is up to a manager
They have limited wine and bottled beer
No
This place has good barbecue but add about $10 to anything you see on their menu. I used to come here regularly but I won’t be anymore. They are giving the same amount of food for $10 more. Plenty of other good barbecue in the area.
Overall a good place to come eat some BBQ. It is a hole in the wall and you are definitely not going there for the environment. We ordered the ribs and the chicken and they were both good. The chicken was especially on the top of my list. The meat was not dry and it had a savory flavor. The sides we purchased, beans and fries, were very good as well. Our waitress was very nice and patient while we figured out what we wanted. All in all, if you are in that area I would suggest it. Maybe not the best BBQ in the world but it's certainly a place to go to if you are craving it.
Great service. Delicious food. Real mashed potatoes, fresh cut fries. Worth the stop.
I've always seen Chubby's from the highway but it was either too early or too late to try. Today, I was able to get a combo plate that included Brisket, ribs and pork bbq. My sides were collard greens and Mac and cheese. The food was outstanding. The smoke ring on the tender brisket was delicious!!!
I visit this spot a lot since I work close by. I must say their customer service is always fantastic and they keep the spot well organized regularly. Pricing is convenient and they serve big portions.
I ordered the burnt ends sandwich. Very good but a little pricey.
Simple laid back atmosphere, but the food and staff (not too mention comic relief from the tshirt slogans) make Chubby's a must stop everytime I'm driving to Gettysburg! And the selection of in-house sauces are all fantastic additions to the perfectly cooked Brisket!
Pretty good food, but not one of the wait staff were wearing masks or face-coverings (4 of them). 2 kitchen employees did have masks on, though. There was only one other table of customers in the back room where we were, and the hostess had seated them directly next to us. 8 other available tables, and she seats them at the one closest to us. Totally irresponsible. Cough, cough. We won't be going back anytime soon unless it's for take-out.
Maybe during a crisis like this is not the best time to rate something...but...the "burnt ends" were nothing but pot roast cubes in bad sauce, the baked beans were awful and the takeout service was meh. Only thing saving it from a 1 star was that the fried pickles were really good.
Can BBQ get any better? This is what my dad would have called a Hole-In-The-Wall ;) Outstanding BBQ, super clean dining area and women's restroom, and sweet & funny wait staff. Desserts are excellent too, if you can find room in your belly.
5 Stars for the food and Im not just passing thru....im local. 3 stars today because they forgot our order, and we waited over 30 minutes for take out. Not normal....but it happened today.
Food is excellent, ribs especially however the place needs a little cleaning and updating.
This was, hands down, the best BBQ meal I have ever had or ever will have in my entire life.Even the brisket was moist! As was the pulled pork. The baked beans are also a must have. And of course, an honorable mention of the Mac n cheese and sweet tea. Do try all the sauces!
I'm a BBQ fanatic and Chubby's pulled pork was hands down the best I've ever had! If you're passing through Emmitsburg, MD on Rt 15 don't pass by Chubby's without stopping in.
The food was ok, on the better end. But the place was a little dirty. Not unhygienic per say, but there were flies buzzing around us and a couple of ants on the table. Really that could have been excuse as part of a rustic BBQ joint but the service was sub par. I think it was just our waiter because I can hear the other waiters actually wait on their table. And again I'm not asking for 5 star service, I know this is a mom and pops place. But our waiter appear to be only waiting on us. I had to get her attention several times during the course of our visit, ask to get straws when she delivered our drinks, that we're ready to order, did not check on on us after the food was served and I needed to get her attention to get us our check. Again not a horrible job, just below average service.
The burnt ends and collard greens are amazing 👌🏼
Great Pulled pork and sides. The burnt ends were also nice. Wish they had a better variety of sauces though. Super friendly staff.
At first I saw the prices and was hesitant but HOLY COW...IT IS DELICIOUS! PLEASE, don't hesitate! The best and biggest I've had in a LONG time!! Well worth every penny!!
Very good experience. Fast service and good food
Some of very best Bbq I've eaten. Pork belly is a must. Check your take away order carefully before leaving. Sides I ordered for four meals were completely missing and got 10x more sauce than needed.
Even a shut down and a rain storm can't keep this fat kid from good bbq. We tried burnt ends, pulled pork, greens, beans, potato salad and fried potatoes.... I'm so glad my friends are fat kids that share too, we both tried everything. The meat, omg so good and the potato salad and greens were on point. We will make you a regular stop from now on!
Good place, good value. We needed something mid drive Thursday, so stopped at Chubby's. I've made countless trips up and down Rt. 15, and my radar always went off when I passed there. Years ago I stopped, and enjoyed the meal. My wife had never stopped, so it was her first time. We had the pulled pork plate with slaw and potato salad. The sausage they drizzled on it was sweet. We liked the "hot" better. We didn't try the volcano or any of those 3 (6 total). A good place to stop.
Pretty good bbq, waitress had a great sense of humor. The brisket burnt ends were probably my favorite. The baked beans were pretty good to. It was very empty on our visit. Looking forward to going back.
I'm a fan. Good BBQ
Used to love this place. Not worth the effort anymore, despite multiple visits. All of the sides are horrible, WAY over priced for small portions and average meats. None of their front line staff not wearing masks on 7/5/20. Cooks had their masks over their chins. Stay away..Much better options not far away.
Never will go back! Had visted awhile back in summer of 2019 food was great then decided to go there today and food was horrible so greasy the burger bun was mush. Bake beans taste like then can. Ribs had a dry rub with packages of cold bbq to add to them... NOT to mention they forgot to put the ribs in the bag and i had to drive all the way back there from almost being home.(atleast they called to tell me they forgot them b4 i got home)But the cornbread was good!
Strange that there are lots of bad reviews. They were out of corn on the cob and gravy but we ordered alternate items. The meats were exceptional, and I am a home BBQ smoker guy. I really only found BBQ this good about another 200 miles further south. This competes easily with the best BBQ I have had including my own. I do not live in the area and was just passing through with my family. We are glad we did, my wife had pulled pork platter, and my friend and I the half beef medium rare. I recommend not eating here if gluten free my wife had a reaction could be a cross contamination issue in the kitchen. The good food deserves five stars, other things are normal restaurant things that happen.
Great food, amazing brisket, sandwiches are so tasty and the portions are huge. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. The place offers a real BBQ experience with a sense of humor all around, we do not do pork so the waitstaff helped us avoid all things swine, we still had a lot of options, the dessert was also amazing. Our toddler cried and she was loud and we didn't like the way the owner reacted. Aside from that, this is our new spot for great BBQ and nice service.
This place is fantastic! We were on a trip South and decided to give it a try. We selected the burnt ends oh my, were they nice and tender. With the large selection of sauces the choice is yours. Best part was that when we were headed back North, we decided we had to stop again. Service matched the quality of the food.
The picture tells it all. I had the burnt ends with Mac and cheese and collard greens. Phenomenal!
The worst restaurant I have every been in my whole life. The food was cold ( rack for two), side came in 2- 3 oz styrofoam tasting cup, got only half piece of corn bread for two people. Service was pathetic. Mold all around the place. Compressed wood molding all around the restaurant was coming off after being wet and moldy. Light were hanging in different angles not straight. I hope the kitchen is more clean and well maintained. I am surprised how the food safety board let the restaurant operate in these conditions. Restroom was bad, not clean, trash can was over full and paper towels were on the floor. Please to go or waste your money here. I wish I should have taken some pictures, but I just wanted to get out of Asap.
Definitely the best BBQ I've ever had. I had the burnt ends and my wife had the pulled pork. Both were tender, juicy, and the most flavorful I've ever had. For sides we had mashed potatoes and gravy, potato salad, collard greens, and corn bread. The potato salad was not drowned in mayo and the potato was not mushy. It was seasoned nicely. The mashed potatoes were chunky style served with a delicious gravy. The corn bread was moist and slightly sweet. The collard greens were good but we're prepared with slightly too much vinegar. Maybe the locals like it that way. I would still order them again but I give them an 8 out of 10. Everything else was a 10 out of 10. Lastly we had pumpkin cheesecake. It was absolutely splendid. Portions were such that my wife and I made another meal of the leftover pork and burnt ends. Service was fast and attentive. Decor shows many rave reviews and some shots of some major celebs that ate there.
Great food, fast service and reasonably good prices. Sides are excellent. The coleslaw is tasty and tangy but not too sweet or oily. Baked beans are awesome.
Brisket was great. The bikers were nice. Interesting and pleasant
Best place around to stop for seriously amazing barbecue. Don’t let the outside appearance of this business turn you away—-the flavor of the food more than makes up for it. Stop in, it’s absolutely worth a try.
Great place to stop by for lunch. Try the pulled pork sandwich $15 with fries and a sweet tea!
Great brisket and burnt ends, slices could have been cleaner but still really good. Love the finishing dust on the beef. Pulled pork lightly drizzled in the house sauce, that let me experiment with the other 8 house sauces, yummy Volcano.
Of course they ran out of burnt ends the one time I’m passing thru....so sad! I ended with the brisket and it was phenomenal - I wish I tried the burnt ends! Very laid back and large establishment, next time I’m around I’ll stop by but please save me some burnt ends! Service was great, really home style workers, no pressure there. Just good BBQ
Loved it. The meat was great, the sweet tea excellent. Great family friendly setup. I suggest anyone driving by stop and have a meal. Super nice.
Delicious bbq, baked beans and Mac and cheese. The corn bread is my favorite!
Great food with fantastic service. Adapted to our group with ease. Even gave us nicknames. Love this place and will return often.
Amazing pit beef sandwich and selection of BBQ sauces
Chubby's was very good!! Four just because some sides and bbq sauce weren't amazing! But meat and soup were out of this world
The BBQ at Chubby's is the bomb! Everything here is delicious. This was our first visit and we definitely will be back. Make sure you wear your stretchy pants because you get a lot of food here. Make sure you really read the menu too, because it is entertaining. The establishment is very clean. The staff is super friendly and very helpful.
The meat is very good, but today they were wiped out after a busy day so selection was limited. Coleslaw seemed a little bland to me but that may just be my taste. Friendly wait staff but perhaps a bit too chatty.
